BPTT Makes Major Gas Discovery Offshore East Coast, Trinidad

BP Trinidad and Tobago announced a new significant gas discovery 50 miles off the east coast of Trinidad. The well reached its final total depth of 15,632 feet sub-sea on December 13th.

The well, located in East Mayaro license area, seven miles south east of bpTT's Mahogany field, sits in 330 feet of water and penetrated 1,400 feet of gas bearing sands in four main reservoirs. Robert Riley, Chairman and CEO of bpTT said: "This is a world class discovery which continues to demonstrate our deep understanding of the Columbus Basin and underpins our confidence in its prospectivity. This newly discovered resource reinforces our belief in the potential of the Columbus Basin and underpins our long-term gas growth strategy in Trinidad and Tobago."

BP Trinidad and Tobago llc (bpTT) is owned by a holding company in which BP has a 70 per cent shareholding and Repsol YPF 30 percent.
